Frequently Asked Questions

ID #1008

Why do you recommend that the paper copies of my thesis should be printed directly from the Portable Document Format (PDF) file that I have submitted?

We strongly recommend that the bound paper versions of your thesis be printed from the electronic version that you submit as it is important that both the electronic and paper versions of the thesis verify against each other.

Primarily this is to ensure that the paper copies of theses that are kept on the shelf in the library are exactly the same as the electronic theses disseminated on the World Wide Web.

It is also likely that some university departments will introduce the option for examiners to examine the electronic version of the thesis submitted by the student; either by examining it on-screen or by printing the electronic version off themselves.

You can download and print your ETD immediately after your successful submission or come back at a later point to do it via the Etheses Repository Service.
