Frequently Asked Questions

ID #1003

What is an "Alternative-format" thesis?

The "Alternative Format" thesis allows a student to incorporate sections that are in a format suitable for submission for publication in a peer-reviewed journal or conference proceeding.

Some publishers may consider the submission of an ETD to an Institutional Repository as a form of publication. We would advise that you consult the copyright policy of the publishers of your work before setting the level of access that you wish to grant your 'Doctoral level ETD - final'. You can find a listing of standard publisher's copyright agreements through the online service SHERPA/RoMEO.
